Mountain Laurel “Firecracker”
The Mountain Laurel “Firecracker” is a deep green evergreen plant that is easy to care for. In mid to late summer, vibrant red-colored buds open to beautiful pink flowers.The deep green foliage is glossy and attractive, making the perfect backdrop to the vivid blooms and an excellent landscaping look all year.
This plant grows well in partial shade, especially planted at the edge of the woods, but can tolerate full sun. It partners well with rhododendrons and azaleas. It has reliable resistance to leaf spot and other diseases. The firecracker prefers cool, rich acidic soil that is moist but well-drained. It does not grow well in clay.
This versatile plant for landscaping has many uses. Plant them along foundations in groups of threes or fives. or any place that needs some color. Mature size is 3’ high and 2’ wide. This plant is deer-resistant. Pruning is only needed to keep the shape you want.
