Baby Blue Colorado Spruce Trees
Baby Blue Colorado Spruce trees are the perfect ornamental evergreens for your yard. This mid-sized dwarf variety of Blue Spruce has the same attractive silvery-blue needles all year round as its bigger brother.
This hardy, rugged tree can grow up to 25 feet in height and about ten feet across (compared to regular Blue Spruce which can reach up to 100 feet in height!). It thrives in cold weather. If you don’t trim it, Baby Blue will naturally take on the typical pyramid shape of most conifers.
The branches of this slow-growing evergreen go all the way down to the ground. You should plan to give it regular care and upkeep. When it’s time to prune, professionals recommend only trimming back the new growth of the current season along with any dead parts.
These blue spruce trees should only be grown in full sunlight. Do not plant them under power lines. They are deer-resistant and fit well into small lawns, garden beds, and corners around your house.
Baby Blue adapts well to both dry and moist growing conditions but does not tolerate standing water. You’ll want to water this new planting weekly, or more often in extreme heat, until it’s established.
